After download is complete click to the .exe file and follow the prompt. An exemplar inventory shown in the demo can be downloaded here.

For developers and Mac or Linux users

ProtocolNavigator was implemented in Python 2.7 and therefore is platform independent. To run ProtocolNavigator in Mac and Linux, please follow instructions bellow.

Accessing ProtocolNavigator 1.0 source code

Please go to the ProtocolNavigator GitHub page. Now you have two options

• One-off option: download the source code by clicking the "Download ZIP" button.
• Synchronized option: click the "Clone in Desktop" button and follow the instructions.

Downloading ProtocolNavigator libraries and dependencies

• Download and install packages for Python 2.7 on your machine (select 32 bit / 64 bit accordingly).
• Add Python path to your Path variables. (if automatically not added)

  C:\Python27;C:\Python27\Scripts

• Obtain the following packages from this site. NOTE: select package according to your machine (32/64 bit)followed by py2.7.exe
  1. wx:provides bindings to the wxWidgets cross-platform toolkit.
     • Install wxPython-common first
     • wxPython
     • After installing these 2 packages check whether the file wx.pth exists in [python_folder]\Lib\site-packages\. If not create the wx.pth file and edit so that it has the single line:
       

       wx-2.8-msw-unicode

  2. Python Imaging Library (PIL): Adds support for opening, manipulating, and saving many different image file formats in Python.
  3. Numpy: Fundamental package for scientific computing.
• Restart your computer.

Starting ProtocolNavigator

• At this point ProtcolNavigator can be run by double-clicking protocolnavigator.py file located at the folder you checked out the the ProtocolNavigator source code.
• Alternatively in a CMD Shell cd to the folder you checked out the the ProtocolNavigator source code and run using the following command:

  python protocolnavigator.py
